Ser Mariotto Riserva

Tenute Fraternita

Ser Mariotto Cofani was a noble from Arezzo of the 1400s. Legend has it that he donated a chest to the Fraternita dei Laici. The painting that depicts him can still be found today in the Museum of the Palazzo di Fraternita. Our Chianti Riserva comes from our best selection of Sangiovese and Cabernet Sauvignon grapes, hand-picked when perfectly ripe. In the vineyard, thinning and early peeling allow to obtain a very structured wine. The harvest, slightly late, is done by hand. Spontaneous fermentations with indigenous yeasts take place at a controlled temperature for about 18 days. After a first passage in steel, the wine keeps its aging in oak barriques for at least 16 months and then in bottle.

The Fraternita vineyards are located on the hills of Castiglion Fibocchi and Civitella, within the Chianti DOCG territory. In the cellar fermentation takes place spontaneously with the native yeasts from the Estate only. The winery uses renewable energy sources owned for electricity in addition to the partial reuse of rainwater.
